Professor Chenyang Lu discusses credit card security on local NBC affiliate

Professor Chenyang Lu appeared on KSDK as an internet security expert to talk about radio frequency identification technology, or RFID.

Credit and debit cards, as well as some passports and driver's licenses are imbedded with RFID, which means that you can make purchases via radio waves with a wireless card reader and a laptop computer.

"When it's radiowaves, that means I don't have to physically steal your card," says Professor Lu.

"We cannot feel too comfortable about this because even though it may not be happening everyday today, I think, you know, people are pretty creative, especially on the cybersecurity side."
