The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) has openings for Lecturers at all level of seniority.
Our department is relatively small (24 faculty + 7 Lecturers and Professors of the Practice) but vibrant (we have added 10 new tenure-track faculty and 5 Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, and Professor of the Practice since 2013), as well as extremely collegial. Faculty on our teaching track are full members of the department, and WashU has made recent changes to its teaching track to offer greater stability and a more attractive career path to individuals with a genuine interest in teaching.
WashU's School of Engineering & Applied Science is expanding. Dean Aaron Bobick is committed to growing the School significantly over the next 4 years, and there is tremendous energy on campus with several new buildings coming up, including one for Computer Science and Engineering. St. Louis is also a wonderful and very affordable place to live. You can have the best of both urban and suburban life. You can walk or bike to work and live in a range of nearby neighborhoods with very good school systems. WashU's beautiful campus is right next to one of the largest urban park in the nation, Forest Park (larger than Central Park in NYC), which is also home to a great zoo and several museums. The city itself has a rich cultural life with many activities to choose from (concerts, museums, theater, restaurants, outdoors, etc.). Last but not least, Saint Louis has a fast growing entrepreneurial ecosystem and was ranked as the fastest growing startup region in the world.
