Planning for your trip
The CSE department will cover travel costs from anywhere in the United States to St. Louis, not to exceed $500. This can include round trip airfare, travel between hotel and airport, or mileage if you choose to drive. Please make your own flight and travel arrangements. If you are having difficulty with logistics or have other questions, please contact Cheryl Newman for assistance. Once travel arrangements have been scheduled, please send your itinerary to Cheryl Newman. Students will be staying at the Sheraton Clayton Plaza Hotel. Reservations will be made for you, and once your itinerary has been received, confirmation numbers will be sent via email.
Thursday, March 1: Arriving in St. Louis
Students arriving by air should take a taxi or Uber to the Sheraton. Please retain your receipt for reimbursement. Hotel check in is 3:00p.m. on Thursday. We hope that students will arrive in time to enjoy dinner with current students and faculty.
Friday, March 2: Learning about the department
Activities on Friday will begin with a brief orientation giving an introduction to our programs and life within the department. You will have opportunities throughout the day to meet face-to-face with individual faculty members and current graduate students with similar research interests. We will also host campus tours and provide lunch. Students will be invited to join us that evening for a casual dinner and a social event with current students.
Saturday, March 3: Learning about St. Louis
Before departure if flight times allow, we look forward to taking any interested students on a tour of all the exciting things that St. Louis has to offer including nearby Forest Park and University City. We will provide opportunities for available students to get a glimpse into life in the St. Louis area showcasing common areas where our graduate students live, work, and socialize.
